Varuna

Non hull penetrating optronic search mast

Description

Varuna is the Next-Gen Non-hull penetrating optronic search mast. It features a multi spectral, multi aperture constant staring array of visible light and advanced thermal cameras. It enables continuous full frame rate 360º imaging without the need for any motorised or mechanical scanning, thereby increasing the search capability many folds. with multiple staring array system it features no moving parts and hence improving the reliability of the system.

Current optronic masts, to minimize the exposure time of the mast have a Quick Look Round feature with an exposure time of about three seconds and a full panoramic views in less than 10 seconds. A unique and the powerful feature of Varuna is that it can generate a full-panoramic view in just 2 secs including the mast exposure time.

Real-time image processing with a best-in-class low latency, an intuitive HMI environment with inbuilt Artificial Intelligence engine with target recognition abilities and threat analysis including automated functions, contributes to an unprecedented level of situational awareness while at periscope depth.

It can be configured with Day light / SWIR imagers and also with LWIR uncooled / MWIR cooled imagers for different operational requirements. In the uncooled configuration the cost of ownership is low and lifecycle is extremely high.

The output of the system is carried over wired media and displayed on sensor control unit.

Varuna is designed to assist the commander already operating a direct view and a long range optronics mast. It enables remote-viewing enabling submarine designers a flexibility with regard to the location and layout of both the fin and the control room.

These upgradeablemodular systems can be used as standalone or in combat management systems with multifunction consoles.

Varuna can also provide target cue to the conventional periscope for it to steer to the target automatically or manually.
