MSIM2

Two Axis Motion Simulator for EO Gimbals

Description

MSIM2 is a two axis motion simulator, ideally suited to test and accurately characterise gimbal stabilisation performance. The motion table can be used to test a variety of weight and size class of EO gimbals with a range of motion and disturbance profiles of varying amplitudes and frequencies.

The simulator is capable of simulating disturbance excitation profiles in angular rates while emulating angular position profile motion due to vehicle movement for land, sea and air vehicles.

It is designed with zero backlash cycloidal geared drive train with high torque motors. The table features excellent instantaneous rate stability and precise, stable absolute positioning.

The two axes can be configured for use as pan and tilt direction excitation with the gimbal mounted either in ball up position common in Land and Naval applications or ball down position common in aerial applications. In addition, gimbals that use a roll-tilt configuration such as in missile seekers can be tested in this table by mounting it the cantilevered orientation.

The inner axis is equipped with a mechanical lock to facilitate the safe loading/unloading of the unit under test.

The two axes possess a full 360 deg articulation when equipped with optional sliprings capable of carrying power, communication over RS422, Data and video over ethernet and digital HD-SDI video over 75 Ohm Coax lines.

The simulator is secured to the facility floor using leveling wedges during installation.

The table is controlled by the Tonbo’s proprietary digital controller electronics and user interface on a rugged laptop.
